Bad Language - flash-fiction competition

Flash Fiction Competition

More information: Writing East Midlands has teamed up with Derby Telegraph and Waterstones Derby, to launch a Flash Fiction Competition for Derbyshire Writers. Award-winning author Stephen Booth has agreed to judge the competition, with the shortlist and winning story being published in the Derby Telegraph. 500 word limit. Flashbang - Crime-flash Competition

More information: Flashbang is a new crime writing contest, sponsored by CrimeFest 2012. No entry free. 150 words maximum. Deadline 15 April. First prize is two free passes to CrimeFest (in Bristol, UK, 24-27 May). Other prizes include DVDs of The Killing, and a selection of crime books. The judge is bestselling crime writer, Zoë Sharp. Dead Ink - Flash-Fiction Competition

More information: Dead Ink Publications will be running a Flash Fiction Competition; the deadline for submission is Wednesday 18th April 2012. Stories must be no longer than 400 words. The Dead Ink editorial team will shortlist ten stories and Richard Evans, author of Kosmonaut Zero, will judge the overall winner. The winning ten writers will have their work published on the Dead Ink website, be interviewed and be invited to perform at an event in Leeds on National Flash Fiction Day (below). Lancashire Writing Hub's Flash-Fiction Competition

Crimeculture - Sherlock Holmes Flash-Fiction Competition

More information: Crimeculture will be running a Sherlock Holmes Flash Fiction Competition as part of a BBC Audiogo promotion; the deadline for submission is Friday 15th June 2012. Stories must be no longer than 400 words and should feature Holmes in another time and place or in a different genre, e.g. gothic, hardboiled, cyberpunk or sci-fi. The Crimeculture editorial team will shortlist ten stories and Sean Cregan, author of explosive and brilliant cyberpunk novels The Levels and The Razor Gate, will judge the overall winner. The winning ten writers will have their work published on the Crimeculture website. The winning writer will be interviewed, published on Crimeculture and presented with a set of BBC Sherlock Holmes audiobook CDs.
